July 24, 2015 River Report

The elk river is low and clear with lots of bugs. It is fishing very well on dries and the cutthroats are willing to eat on top. They’re eating a variety of flies but mainly Western Green Drakes, Sallies, Light Cahills, Beetles and spiders.

The Elk is fishable earlier in the morning now because of warm temperatures and the evenings are having lots of hatches. Michel is low and clear and has been amazing on Green Drakes and Sallies. Big fish are looking up and eating on top.

The Bull River is clear and flowing at a steady rate. They’re eating Drakes, Sallies and beetles. The wigwam is running low and extremely clear with large cutthroat holding in the faster water eating Green Drakes, Mahogany Duns, and beetles. Recommended cutthroat flies are paratrooper green drakes, parachute sallies, Para light cahills, royal wulff’s, black fat alberts and Mark’s super spider. For bulls black or white are good for streamer and egg patterns are fishing well.

Hope to see you in the shop soon!
