Due to the constantly changing weather the fishing on the Elk has been up and down. During hatches the fishing is hot, however, without bugs the fishing is still good but average compared to what we’re used to seeing. Hatches for the Elk are Green Drakes, PMDs, Caddis, and Sallies.
Flies for the Elk: GT PMD, Paratrooper Green Drake, Parachute Wulff Purple, Snowshoe Caddis Tan, Parachute Sally.
Michel has been hot lately. It has been having large Green Drake hatches along with PMDs, Sallies, and Caddis. The fish are big and happy to eat on top. Terrestrial patterns will work throughout the day but in the evenings Mayflies are the way to go.
Flies for Michel: Paratrooper Green Drake, Extended Body Green Drake, Parachute Wulff Purple, GT PMD, Parachute Sally.
The Wigwam now has bulls throughout the system but they are dormant. If you’re looking for bulls to eat they may do it in the evenings or early mornings but will not midday. Cutties in the wigwam are big and will eat Terrestrials and Mayflies. Throughout the day ants will bring fish up and mayflies (Drakes, Mahogany Duns) will in the evening.
Suggested Flies for the Wigwam: Extended Body Green Drake, H&L Variant, Ausable Wulff, Para Cinnamon Ant, GT Mahogany.
Good Luck Fishing!
