2019 Spring Fly Fishing

Lake fishing is starting to heat up with the Chironomid hatch getting into full swing. Big fish are being taken in deep water on various patterns, like Chromie, Ice cream cones, Liquid lace chironomids and doc spratley patterns.

The Elk River is still closed until June 15, 2019 but S.W. Alberta waters have been hot!

Water levels are rising and clarity is low. Careful where you walk and wade while the Rainbows start to make redds! (They look like someone has vacuumed the rocks.)

Nymph fishing is good on golden stone nymphs as well as some dry fly opportunities exist on Skwala and mayfly imitations.
