The Elk River is flowing at 105 m3 per second and a primary water level of 2.4 m. The water is currently a light Earl Grey tea color with approximately 2 feet of visibility.
Today’s photo is courtesy of our guide, Josh. Our clients enjoying a great float on the Elk River. The tributaries of the Elk River; Lizard Creek, Morrissey Creek and Michel Creek are flowing clear but high and fast.
With the improved weather, bug life has increased tremendously. Many Stoneflies, Caddis and Mayflies are all starting to hatch!
Kootenay Fly Shop’s Staff choice of flies for this week are Sharon Stone, Sofa Pillow, Willy’s Dirty Yellow and the Father’s Day Caddis.
If you are in need of a new pair of waders, boots or a new rod & reel, stop in the shop Monday to Sunday from 9:00 am – 5:30 pm. And with the rivers and creeks clearing up, how about a guided float trip on the Elk River? Walk & Wade on Michel Creek or the Wigwam River?
Gord is also out on the Columbia River in Castlegar, BC, and has days available for a guided Jet Boat trip for Rainbows!
