March 9, 2015 Report – Fishing Madness!

Its finally Spring! and the weather has been showing it! The Elk and its surrounding waters are low, clear and fishing well! So with only a few weeks left before the April 1 closure now is the time to be out fishing.

With the warm winter we have received the fish have been very active through out the day eating nymphs, streamers and occasionally dry flys! The Streamer Fishing has been very good with the Whitefish fry around, some flies to try are black/white muddlers and olive/white muddy buddies. Nymphing has been fantastic with the winter stoneflys, golden stones, san juan worms, and prince nymhps to mention a few. Dry fly can be good in the afternoons on Winter stoneflys and midge patterns.
