Spring Fishing on the Elk is at it’s best ever. We are a full month ahead of normal seasonal river conditions. Bugs are plentiful with BWO’s, Midges and loads of Skwalas are out so dry fly has been exceptional.
Best dries are Orange Stimulators in big sizes #6,8, and Skwala patterns in size #10. Griffiths Gnats have been good along with Renegades.
Nymph fishing is very good on Golden Stones, Bird of Prey caddis pupa in sizes 10,12, and Purple Prince nymphs in small sizes #14.
Streamer fishing is exceptionally good with big Bull trout being caught on White and Green streamers.
