The Elk is running quite low and clear, however with the cooler weather we’ve been having (especially during the nights) the river is cold with active fish.
Cutthroat are eating Small Mayflies (including Blue Wing Olives), Hoppers, Beetles, and Ants especially. Recommended dry flies for the Elk are: Parachute Hares Ear, GT BWO Size 16-20, Noble Chernoble Red, Tan Fat Albert, Black Fat Albert, and B-52 Flying Ant.
Michel is still closed due to low/warm waters. The Wigwam is low/clear and has been fishing average. The Cutthroat are eating Ants, Beetles, and Mahogany Duns. Recommended flies for Cutthroat are: B-52 Flying Ant, Parachute Ant, Black Fat Albert, Orange Fat Albert, and GT Mahogany.
Bull Trout are very dormant and not eating much. Recommended Bull Trout flies are: Tan/Olive Double Bunnies, Black Circus Peanut, Black Stonefly, Small Pheasant Tails, San Juan Worm, and egg patterns.
The Bull River has been fishing well and the Cutties are eating lots of dries. There is still some green and grey drakes along with ants and beetles. Recommended dry flies for the Bull are: Green Drakes, Grey Drakes, Black Fat Alberts, B-52 Flying Ants, and Speckled PMXs.
