July 16 River Report

Fishing has been incredible lately on the local waters. The cool stormy weather has brought many hatches which include Caddis, Mayflies, and Sallies.

Michel is on fire at the moment with huge cutthroat eating large dries in small water. The water is running at a normal flow and is clear with bugs everywhere. The fish are eager to eat on top and will eat at all times of the day.

The Elk is fishing well as usual without sign of slowing down. We are seeing large Grey Drake hatches along with Tan Caddis and Yellow Sallies. The Cutthroat are eating dries and will eat nymphs if you want to nymph.

Suggested Dries for the Elk and Michel: Ext. Body Grey Drake, Para Purple Wulff, GT Adams, Trina’s Para Sally, Goddard Caddis.

Suggested Nymphs: Bird of Prey Tan, Brown Copper Jon, Red Copper Jon, BTB Hunchback Green Drake.

Suggested Streamers: Black Circus Peanut, Muddy Buddy White, Olive/Tan Double Bunny, Tan/White Double Bunny.

Fishing is hot right now and it is only going to get better! Stop in at the shop or give us a call if you have any questions.

Happy fishing!
